The 150-unit, smoke free, multi-family residential project located on a 13-acre brownfield site bordering the Boggy Creek Green Belt, will seek LEED Platinum certification and Austin Energy 5-Star certification. M-Station is expected to be the first tax-credit funded, affordable housing development in Austin. Contects is providing LEED for Homes, Enterprise Community, and Austin Energy Green Building program support services. M Station’s rent will be structured so that the apartments will accommodate a range of incomes. Foundation Communities is partnering with Open Door Preschool to include an on-site day care center, which will provide free childcare for tenants. The planned Meredith Family non-profit focused development across the street will offer tenants access to the Sustainable Food Center and the Austin Children’s Museum’s workshop.
