Project Goal:

New Hope Housing celebrates the opening of 4415 Perry, its sixth multifamily housing property in Houston. Located near the University of Houston and Texas Southern University, the Perry development is a 160-unit supportive housing community for adults living alone on very limited incomes. The project is on tract to receive LEED platinum certification and will be New Hope’s second LEED certified property. “4415 Perry continues New Hope’s commitment to build ‘green’ multifamily housing for our most vulnerable citizens,” stated New Hope Board President Michael M. Fowler. “With each new development we move one step closer to New Hope’s near-term goal of providing affordable, high-quality housing for about 1,000 adults in Houston,” he concluded.

Located in the historic Foster Place, one of the oldest populated neighborhoods in Houston, 4415 Perry is part of the recent revitalization of the area. This project features fully furnished, efficiency units that include a microwave, refrigerator and a private bathroom. Residents also have access to public areas including a communal kitchen, library, television room, fully-equipped business center, coin-operated washer/dryer laundry room and outdoor patio with barbeque grills. Only steps away from METRO bus transportation, residents without automobiles can easily access nearby grocery stores, banks, medical and retail centers, and restaurants. New Hope also provides 24/7 front desk staffing and social services support including case management for residents.

The Perry project was designed by award-winning architect Val Glitsch, FAIA, LEED AP, who also designed New Hope’s award winning 2424 Sakowitz and Canal Street properties. Camden Builders, Inc. was the general contractor. Perry incorporates green materials and landscaping to create a LEED certified property. New Hope Housing worked closely with the Greater OST/South Union Super Neighborhood #68 to not only provide high-quality affordable housing, but to build a property in which the neighborhood and its residents can take pride.
