To save the historic residence and meet the clients program required architect Brent Brown to create a design that doubled the square footage to 7,200 yet preserved the existing Oak and Pecan trees. A new architectural language of glass and steel complimented the original brick home. Changes to street face of the home were kept to a minimum both to preserve the fabric of the neighborhood and maximize reuse of existing materials. Always mindful of its origins, Brent used the LEED for Homes green rating to help re-invent the home in a sustainable fashion relevant for a new century. In the process, this home has the first residential green roof in Dallas.
