INTRODUCTION
Sustainability in new construction is becoming increasingly important to facility owners. New technologies in design, materials, construction practices, and operational procedures have direct impacts toward the life cycle cost of a facility. Reduced energy consumption diminishes operating costs, directly affecting the requirements of the local utility production, and translates into reduced emissions in the community. A healthy indoor environmental air quality can increase employee productivity and decrease absenteeism, as documented in numerous case studies.
The LEED Green Building Rating System was developed by USGBC to promote green design, construction, and operations practices in buildings nationwide. The LEED registration and certification processes and requirements are extremely specific with timelines, prerequisites, and documentation criteria that must be met precisely. Failure to meet a specification may result in the inability of a project to become certified. Continuous monitoring of a project’s status relative to LEED is essential to successful certification by the USGBC.
Contects-Consultants & Architects provides facilitation of LEED certification and technical support required by the U.S. Green Building Council to achieve LEED. The goal of LEED projects is to integrate sustainable systems, methods and materials into the construction process to meet the project specifications. Contects proposes to provide the General Contractor with the skilled staff and the technical support required to achieve LEED Certification.
